The Coliseum employee was one of 11 Georgia hospital employees honored at the inaugural event in Atlanta .
Sullivan, an employee of Coliseum for the last 10 years, is a tireless advocate for victims of abuse and neglect. She has served as the hospital's sexual assault nurse examiner for the past five years and teaches other professionals within Coliseum and the middle Georgia community about domestic violence and sexual assault.
She helped establish a program for victims of abuse and neglect in neighboring Houston County . She worked with the Crescent House, a center for abused women and children, and the Bibb County Crisis line to improve care and services for victims of abuse. Sullivan founded and served as the first president of the Georgia Chapter of the International Association of Forensic Nurses.
Sullivan does more than care for her patients. She also cares for her fellow employees by spearheading such efforts as the “Atta Boy” employee recognition program, acting as department educator, and serving on such hospital committees as recruitment and retention, pain management and care.
Sullivan is a past recipient of the Frist Humanitarian Award, the highest employee honor bestowed by Coliseum Medical Center 's parent company, HCA Hospital Corporation, for upholding the highest standards of quality and personal commitment.
