The Habersham physician was one of 11 health care practitioners honored at the inaugural event in Atlanta .
Dr. Hamilton has dedicated his life to caring for others – both in and outside of Habersham County Medical Center (HCMC). Serving on Habersham's medical staff for nearly 20 years as well as on the executive committee of the hospital authority, Hamilton is a dedicated professional who still makes house calls. On Saint Patrick's Day, the physician dresses as a leprechaun - complete with an emerald green three-piece suit, cocked hat and silver buckled-brogues – and visits with hospital employees and patients and local school children. When his practice is closed, Hamilton can be found working in Habersham's emergency room.
Despite his busy practice, Hamilton still finds time for civic duties. He has served as a volunteer in a free clinic for the Hispanic community. He is active in his church and serves as pastoral counsel. He also serves on the board of Habersham Life, a non-profit counseling and pregnancy resource center. In addition, he is very involved in the many activities of his 12 children from Boy Scouts and cross country to soccer.
